#RespektTaube
Siehst Du mich?
--- Riverside cleanup stroll Walk along the riverbank together, pick up litter, and spend time with people you care about. Inspired by initiatives like the Frankfurt Cleanup and the RhineCleanUp, we want to bring the same spirit down to something smaller and more personal. No big event, no logistics, just a few friends, gloves, bin bags, and maybe a coffee after. Sometimes it's enough to simply start.
Get a Biotonne: close the compost loop in Cologne
Get a Biotonne: close the compost loop in Cologne About 40% of what lands in the grey residual bin is compostable organic waste. In Niehl it is burned: costing money, CO₂, and fertile matter that could return to parks and gardens as torffreier Kölner Kompost. What you can do - Ask your landlord for the free brown Biotonne (tenants can use Zero Waste Köln’s postcard template on their project page). - Line the bin with newspaper, keep it in the shade, and skip “compostable” plastic bags: they need industrial conditions Cologne’s plants do not offer. - Buy Kölner Kompost or Blumenerde from AWB/AVG outlets (the Verein advocates more neighbourhood pick-up points). Why it matters Separate bio collection has been mandatory in Germany since 2015, but Cologne households still need to request the bin. Less bio in residual waste can mean a smaller (cheaper) grey bin.
Walk Cologne with the Zero Waste Schweif
Walk Cologne with the Zero Waste Schweif Grab the Schweif booklet and one to four friends, then wander your Kiez with small tasks that help you spot waste, reuse, and resources in everyday streets. No tour guide: you set the pace. How it works - Pick up a booklet at partner cafés, unverpackt shops, or Zero Waste Köln info stands (hours vary by location). - Work through quizzes and observation prompts designed in Cologne, usable in any urban neighbourhood. - Optional deep-dive facts on the project page after you have tried the riddles yourself. Why it matters Cologne burns roughly 2,000 tonnes of waste every day; the Schweif turns that abstract number into curiosity about what we throw away and what could stay in the loop.
Zerowaste Frankfurt
Was ist Zero Waste? Frankfurt möchte, als eine der ersten Städte Deutschlands, Zero Waste City werden. Was genau bedeutet das? Wirklich gar kein Abfall mehr? Zero Waste meint „keine Verschwendung“. Und damit weniger Müll. Genau dies ist das Ziel unserer groß angelegten Dafür gibt es viele interessante und motivierende Aktionen und Angebote. Wir möchten dich zum Mitmachen ermutigen. Denn: Sich gemeinsam gegen Verschwendung und für den Erhalt von Rohstoffen einzusetzen, macht Spaß und ist ganz einfach im Alltag möglich. Privat genauso wie im Job. Neighbourhood free store (Umsonstladen) in Frankfurt
Neighbourhood free store (Umsonstladen) in Frankfurt Die Teilerei runs a solidarity free store in Frankfurt Niederrad: drop off clean things you no longer need, browse what neighbours shared, no price tags. What you can do - Visit during open hours to give or take clothes, housewares, books, and everyday goods - Volunteer after an onboarding session: email kontakt@teilerei-ffm.de, reach out on Instagram, or ask staff in store - Use the in-store Taschenstation so visitors without a bag can skip disposables - Support running costs via betterplace.org if you want to chip in financially How it works The collective is self-organised, solidarity-based, and resource-conscious. Newcomers meet the team at onboarding dates, then choose shifts in the shop, events, or neighbourhood outreach. Why it matters Goods stay in the neighbourhood instead of incineration, and every visit builds mutual trust on the block.
Balcony Solar Network
Bulk-buy balcony solar with your neighbours Connect with people in your building to research plug-in panels, share mounting help, and walk the Vienna registration steps together before anyone plugs in. What you can do - Host a roof or courtyard info session so neighbours compare kit specs side by side - Read the Wiener Netze balcony rules and register your Kleinsterzeugungsanlage (up to 800 W) before operating - Check the city balcony-module notes: Vienna does not subsidise balcony kits; city grants target fixed plants over 1 kWp with their own metering point - If your building wants to share rooftop generation beyond plug-in kits, book free energy-community advice from the Klima- und Innovationsagentur Wien (templates also at energiegemeinschaften.gv.at) How it works Austria treats plug-in balcony kits as Kleinsterzeugungsanlagen (max 800 W). Wiener Netze has two weeks after registration to check or swap the meter; Schuko / Schutzkontaktstecker connections are not allowed. After that, households on the same facade can split delivery and mounting. Larger shared plants belong in an Energiegemeinschaft, not a balcony kit. Vendor-neutral detail also lives at erneuerbare-energie.wien. Why it matters Collective buying lowers cost and fear of the unknown. Neighbours who compare kits and paperwork together are the ones who actually get panels on the railing.
Clothes swap party in your Kiez in Frankfurt
Clothes swap party in your Kiez in Frankfurt Host an afternoon clothes exchange in a park or courtyard: bring what you do not wear, leave with something new-to-you, good music optional in Frankfurt. What you can do - Set up rails and mirrors; welcome first-timers with a simple “take one, leave one” rule - Partner with Greenpeace Frankfurt Makesomething or join Frankfurter Wandeltage formats - Document sizes and categories so the swap stays fun, not chaotic Why it matters Still-wearable textiles too often burn; swapping keeps joy in fashion while keeping tonnes out of incineration.New initiatives this month
