Krempel is the Bibliothek der Dinge of Mediothek Krefeld at Theaterplatz 2. The foyer holds everyday helpers such as voltage testers, hand tools, and instant cameras. Things are handed out at the service desk, not at the self-issue machines.

What you can do

• Borrow objects for two weeks with a Mediothek membership and extend if they are not reserved
• Join the MINT club for children and young people interested in science and computing, usually on the last weekend of each month
• Use Hublet tablets in the house (scan your card, devices stay on site)

How it works

Membership can be opened on site with ID. Adult annual fees are listed on the city page. Children and young people up to 18 join free. Typical house hours: Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00, Saturday 10:00 to 14:00. Confirm on the city page (dated 18 May 2026).

Why it matters

Tools in the foyer plus a MINT club turn the Mediothek into a place to try making, not only to take books home.
