Build a Fab City local node and open learning day

Prototype solutions your city can actually produce

Fab City invites territories to commit to making more of what they consume. The How to Become a Fab City guide walks groups through stakeholder maps, pilot projects, and open learning days that welcome first-time makers.

What you can do

  • Read the Fab City Hubs Toolkit with a small founding team
  • Host a monthly open lab afternoon: one taught skill, one shared tool, one neighbourhood challenge
  • Submit your hub story to the Fab City Learning Hub resource library

How it works

A local node partners with schools, libraries, or cooperatives for space and outreach. Pilots test circular products (repair, textiles, food processing) before scaling. The global network reviews and spreads what works.

Why it matters

Cities that learn to make together depend less on fragile supply chains. Open learning days lower the threshold for anyone curious about fabrication.
