Zerowaste Frankfurt
Der Zero Waste Guide für Frankurt: Abfall reduzieren heißt Klima schützen. Kampagne: Gemeinsam mit allen Menschen in Frankfurt wollen wir den Restmüll pro Kopf und Jahr von derzeit 205 kg auf 120 kg reduzieren. Was ist Zero Waste? Frankfurt möchte, als eine der ersten Städte Deutschlands, Zero Waste City werden. Was genau bedeutet das? Wirklich gar kein Abfall mehr? Zero Waste meint „keine Verschwendung“. Und damit weniger Müll. Genau dies ist das Ziel unserer groß angelegten Dafür gibt es viele interessante und motivierende Aktionen und Angebote. Wir möchten dich zum Mitmachen ermutigen. Denn: Sich gemeinsam gegen Verschwendung und für den Erhalt von Rohstoffen einzusetzen, macht Spaß und ist ganz einfach im Alltag möglich. Privat genauso wie im Job. CleanUp-Spaziergang am Fluss
Ufer Cleanup Gemeinsam am Flussufer entlanglaufen, Müll aufsammeln und Zeit mit Menschen verbringen, die einem wichtig sind. Inspiriert von Aktionen wie dem Frankfurt Cleanup und dem RhineCleanUp, wollen wir dasselbe Prinzip kleiner und persönlicher machen. Kein großes Event, keine Logistik, nur ein paar Freunde, Handschuhe, Müllsäcke und danach vielleicht ein Kaffee. Manchmal reicht es, einfach anzufangen. --- Riverside cleanup stroll Walk along the riverbank together, pick up litter, and spend time with people you care about. Inspired by initiatives like the Frankfurt Cleanup and the RhineCleanUp, we want to bring the same spirit down to something smaller and more personal. No big event, no logistics, just a few friends, gloves, bin bags, and maybe a coffee after. Sometimes it's enough to simply start.
Sustainable event checklist for hosts
Accessible venues and vegetarian catering as default Since 2019, GIZ has required sustainable minimum standards for events at its German sites, sharpened in 2024. Mandatory elements include barrier-free venues, vegetarian catering, and waste-conscious logistics. Country offices use the standards as flexible orientation adapted to local conditions. What you can do - Community organisers: copy the checklist for your next neighbourhood forum, accessible room, plant-based menu, reusable name badges - Conference planners: publish your sustainability criteria in the tender so caterers and venues bid against them - Co-working spaces: offer a “green event package” with veggie catering and bike-rack directions How it works Standards apply to internal and external events GIZ hosts or sponsors at German locations; several field offices have translated them into local guidelines. Measure footprint and handprint at every country office Outside Germany, GIZ teams use the Corporate Sustainability Handprint (CSH), a management tool that tracks both footprint (energy, water, travel) and handprint (active contributions such as solar arrays, carpooling, and fair procurement). Sustainability officers embed CSH targets in job roles so field offices contribute to the company-wide Sustainability Programme. What you can do - NGOs and development agencies: adapt the footprint/handprint split for your own country offices, track consumption and positive projects side by side - Municipal climate teams: borrow CSH indicators for embassies, twin-town partnerships, or international NGO hubs in your city - Workplace green teams: list one measurable handprint project per quarter (bike racks, PV, reusable event kit) How it works Country offices report CSH categories aligned with climate, procurement, and biodiversity goals. Welcome beginners at a neighbourhood Repair Café The Repair Café Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen offers free help fixing toasters, bikes, and jumpers in a café atmosphere. Volunteers explain each step so visitors leave with working goods and new confidence.
