Open Pest embankment between the bridges
The seasonal car-free zone runs along the lower Pest embankment on the Jane Haining and Antall József rakpart stretches between Erzsébet Bridge and Chain Bridge, expanding toward Parliament along Antall József rakpart.
What you can do

When & where
- Recurring seasonal venue: 1 May 2026 through 23 October 2026 (excluding national holidays)
- Weekdays May–September: cars until about 18:00, then pedestrian and bike priority for the evening
- Location: Jane Haining rakpart and Antall József rakpart, Budapest (between Erzsébet Bridge and Chain Bridge)
- Access: metro Vigadó tér, tram, walking from Váci utca, bike-friendly
- Approximate pin: 47.4950, 19.0474 (midpoint of the open stretches)
How it works
Barriers and a flexible traffic order open the lower quay to people for the season. Admission is free. Bring comfortable shoes, a picnic, or a bike; use public transport when the barriers are up.
Why it matters
A concrete pin on the map makes it easy to meet friends at the riverside and treat the embankment as a neighbourhood living room, not only a tourist viewpoint.
