Help pollard willows in Rheinaue Walsum in Duisburg

BUND Kreisgruppe Duisburg keeps a winter tradition of pollarding willows (Kopfbaumschnitt) in Rheinaue Walsum. Helpers are welcome. The 2025/26 dates on the news page ran through early 2026; ask the group for the next winter (2026/27) mornings rather than treating those past dates as still current.

What you can do

• Read Kopfbaumschneiden in der Rheinaue Walsum and ask for the coming winter list
• Meet at the Kaiserstr. / Kleine Wardtstraße car park at 10:00 when a cut is on
• Pre-book if you need willow rods for a Kita or school: not every morning is a cutting morning

How it works

Seasonal winter work, usually Saturday 10:00 at the floodplain car park. Solarpunker does not set the next date.

Why it matters

Pollarded willows along the Rhine keep hollows, shoots, and floodplain structure that birds and insects use year after year.
