Bled STICT: circular textile challenge with international experts

Tackling tourism's textile footprint Under the EU STICT (Sustainable Textiles In Circular Tourism) project, EBM partnered with the municipality of Bled and international sustainability experts to explore solutions for the environmental and economic impacts of textiles in a tourism-heavy destination. The initiative investigates sustainable sourcing, collection, and reuse of textiles across hotels, venues, and local businesses in the Bled area. Kommunala Škofja Loka: reusable cup rental and washing service

23,000 single-use cups prevented in one year Kommunala Škofja Loka launched a reusable cup rental and washing service available to event organisers across the municipality. In 2024, 25 event organisers: public and private: used the service, preventing approximately 23,000 single-use cups from going to waste. The system rents cups, collects them after the event, washes them, and makes them available for the next booking. When & where - Year-round service for event organisers in Škofja Loka municipality - Book cup rental and collection through Kommunala Škofja Loka; washing and return handled after each event How to participate - Event organisers: book reusable cups through Kommunala Škofja Loka - Attendees: ask your local event organisers to use the rental service instead of disposable cups Why it matters Switching one event from disposable to reusable cuts hundreds of plastic cups at a stroke. At 25 events in a small municipality, the impact adds up fast: and the model is directly replicable by any town with a municipal waste operator.
