Cook With Neighbours at Can Batlló

Cook With Neighbours at Can Batlló Can Batlló's Nau 69 welcomes Barcelona neighbours to shared cooking in a reclaimed yard. Neighbour tip Bring a friend who has never visited before; shared first visits help you remember names, routes, and follow-up events you might skip alone. What you can do in Barcelona - Scan the community agenda for tallers de cuina and shared meal calls (Can Batlló agenda) - Join a cooking workshop when Nau 69 posts a new series from 26 October 2026 onward - Volunteer setup or cleanup shifts if organisers ask for hands on the day - Explore other Can Batlló cooperatives for tools, gardens, and mutual-aid desks in the same block How to join Workshops are open to neighbours who respect house rules on care and consent. Some sessions ask for prior signup on the agenda link; others are drop-in when room capacity allows. Read each post for language, cost, and accessibility. When & where Espai comunitari Can Batlló, Nau 69, Sants-Montjuïc, Barcelona. Recurring workshop dates appear on canbatllo.org; do not assume a fixed weekday without checking the current month. Why it matters in Barcelona Shared stoves turn empty factory floors into places where rent-stressed neighbours eat together and learn recipes from many homelands. Cooking side by side builds trust faster than policy PDFs alone. Find more community projects in Barcelona. Bring a notebook; details you capture on site help your block organise a return visit or small solidarity fund drive. Good to know - Do workshops cost money? Some ask a solidarity fee; the agenda states amounts when required. - Are children welcome? Family-friendly sessions say so in the post; sharp-knife workshops may be adults-only. - Is Can Batlló only cooking? No - the yard hosts many cooperatives; cooking is one open door among many.

Barcelona Zero Waste Observatory: residents and experts shaping city policy

A city advisory body where zero waste is built in public The Barcelona Zero Waste Observatory is an advisory body created by Barcelona City Council to bring together Zero Waste experts, civil society organisations, and community representatives who drive the zero waste movement in the city. Rezero: the Catalan Zero Waste organisation is one of the founding participants. The Observatory coordinates communication between the City Council and the entities running projects on the ground, giving residents and advocates a direct channel into municipal decision-making. What the Observatory does - Brings together 20+ organisations working on waste reduction, reuse, and circular economy in Barcelona - Serves as the official advisory body to the city on Zero Waste policy and plans - Facilitates joint projects: from school food surplus management to plastic-free market studies - Publishes findings and recommendations publicly How to get involved - Follow Rezero for Observatory updates and public consultation opportunities - Attend open events where Observatory members present findings to Barcelona residents - If you run a Zero Waste initiative in Barcelona, contact Rezero about joining the Observatory network Why it matters Cities that embed civil society into policy structures tend to make stronger and longer-lasting zero waste commitments. The Barcelona Observatory is a governance model other European cities are watching closely.

RezerolabDades: check your Catalan municipality's zero waste progress

30+ indicators for 300 municipalities, updated every year RezerolabDades is a free public data tool built by Rezero that analyses over 30 waste-related indicators for approximately 300 Catalan municipalities each year. Indicators include separate collection rates, residual waste per capita, composting volumes, and proximity to Zero Waste targets. The tool is used by municipalities, researchers, journalists, and residents to track whether their area is moving toward or away from zero waste. What you can do with it - Look up your municipality's separate collection rate and compare it to Catalan neighbours - Share results with your local council as evidence for improving collection infrastructure - Use the data to write letters, reports, or media pieces about waste performance in your area - Identify which municipalities are models worth visiting or learning from How to access it - Visit Rezero's data page for the latest RezerolabDades release - Rezero publishes an annual summary report alongside the raw indicators Why it matters Accountability needs data. RezerolabDades makes it impossible for municipalities to hide poor performance behind vague statements: and equally easy to celebrate genuine progress. It is one of the most sophisticated municipal waste monitoring tools in Europe at a regional scale.
