Garden together at the Hildegarten

A green meeting place in Plagwitz

The Hildegarten at Bürgerbahnhof Plagwitz is a community garden run by engaged residents. Neighbours of all ages grow fruit, vegetables, and herbs in shared beds using ecological methods that protect soil and pollinators.

What you can do

  • Drop in during open hours to garden, chat, or simply enjoy the green.
  • Join workshops on permaculture, composting, and nature-friendly gardening: no prior experience required.
  • Help with seasonal tasks or bring ideas for new community plots.

When & where

  • April-October: Mon, Thu, Fri 16:00-19:00; Sat-Sun 13:00-19:00
  • Röckener Str. 44, 04229 Leipzig (Bürgerbahnhof Plagwitz)

Why it matters

Leipzig aims to become a Zero-Waste city by 2030; neighbourhood gardens turn waste prevention into hands-on care for food, soil, and community.
