Danilovgrad: backyard composting kits with Bokashi + Viber community

Composting bins, Bokashi liquid, and a community that keeps it going

In Danilovgrad, Zero Waste Montenegro distributed composting kits: bins with Bokashi liquid: to 150 households, and established a Viber community group to provide ongoing guidance and peer support. The Viber group is a low-friction way to keep participants engaged: they can ask questions, share progress photos, and troubleshoot problems without needing to attend events or workshops.

Where

  • Danilovgrad, Montenegro (approximate pin at municipality centre)

How to participate

  • Danilovgrad residents: contact Zero Waste Montenegro or the municipality to join the composting programme and receive a kit
  • Residents already composting: share your experience in the Viber community: peer knowledge transfer is one of the most effective tools for improving composting quality
  • Municipalities elsewhere: the Viber community model costs almost nothing to set up and dramatically improves participant retention: consider it for any kit-based environmental programme
